As you depart the old-town flair of Polcenigo, you can enjoy the shade of the enchanting Gor trail, one of the many small natural treasures you will encounter along the way, a path full of trees, water and sudden suggestions, where the modern world’s worries and haste are left at the door.

Following the signs as you walk in the middle of the woods, you can easily reach the church of Santa Lucia di Budoia on a hill overlooking the plain. After a moment of refreshment and reflection, descend through Budoia, with its typical stone houses, and climb up again to reach the hamlet of Dardago, which you can either skip or, driven by legitimate curiosity, explore, even if only briefly: it is worth a visit.

The road continues through another small village frozen in time, Castel d’Aviano, with its echoes of medieval history, its fortifications and structures built for defence and domination. The village square, with its quiet and relaxed atmosphere, is the right place to stop and perhaps have a bite to eat in the old local tavern.
