This detour will allow you to reach Maniago while enjoying the genuine nature of the Pedemontana. A few steps away from the town streets, you will find yourself on the slopes of the Prealps, immersed in the woods, with only you and your rucksack and your eyes on the trail, to be able to capture the details of a rock, a tree, a play of light, a glimpse of a mountain, which together make up the constantly changing landscape of this land.
A few hundred metres are enough to disconnect yourself from the world. After a succession of treetops and clearings, suddenly the view opens up on the pebbly bed of the Cellina, which leaves a clear mark on the Friulian plain. Still in the woods, you continue along the Val Piccola until you reach the ruins of the medieval castle of Maniago, one of the many fortresses where fires were lit to signal invaders approaching. From here, no longer a place of war but of peace, it is only a short walk down to the town.
