In Spilimbergo you will find it natural to take a slow walk to admire its ancient streets, where the legacy of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance tells a tale of spirituality. Stop off at the Duomo, with its imposing frescoes depicting St Christopher, and the nearby Castle, then continue on to the current Town Hall, from where you can enjoy an incomparable view of the Tagliamento riverbed and the rest of Friuli.
This rich cultural and artistic heritage is quickly followed by another world, that of nature and its infinite variety of species. After fording the Cosa stream and crossing a vast farmland, you will reach Vivaro, the village in the centre of the Magredi, a rare and precious natural environment, unique in Italy.
Here you will find yourself in a true Asian steppe within the European continent, reminiscent of the vast open spaces that stretch from Mongolia across Eurasia. This precious place is an invitation to meditation and reflection, where you can discover native flowers and enjoy the silence of the wilderness, just a few steps away from modernity.
Because of the sun and the lack of shade, we recommend that you do this stage by bike, or at least avoid the height of summer if you decide to walk.
