A short, effortless detour leads to the hamlet of San Leonardo Valcellina, where a special sculpture tells the story of the local community. A local artist carved a statue from the wood of the old hackberry tree that once dominated the village square to commemorate the ingenuity and exploits of Antonio dell’Angelo, known as Pellegrin, who single-handedly dug a canal to bring water to the village during the dog days of August.
