The Green Caves of Pradis are formed by the combination of a deep gorge carved into the limestone by the Cosa stream and three caves connected to it, the Andris di Gercie, the Andri scur and the Andri blanc. Therefore, it is not a true cave, but a complex of several joined parts. By means of downhill paths and numerous steps, it is possible to descend to the level of the stream, in a spectacular setting due to the particular conformation of the place. The descent to the Orrido, with its waterfalls, natural arches, caves and hollows, is a karst environment unique in its beauty. Here the force of nature and water show themselves to us in all their power and majesty, an atlas of open-air geology that has fascinated generations of visitors, from prehistory to the present day. As early as the Paleolithic, Neanderthal man and our ancestor Sapiens knew these places and exploited their riches, using the caves carved out over the millennia by the Cosa and Rio Secco streams as shelters for their hunting activities.
