Polcenigo is situated in a basin at the foot of the Pre-Alps, in an area rich in woods and water. Inhabited since ancient times, walking around the Borgo (one of the One Hundred Most Beautiful Villages in Italy), which developed more during the Venetian republic, you can see medieval buildings and those of later eras. Of particular note, in the central square, stands the 17th-century Palazzo Zaia (formerly of the Fullini counts), with a portico of rusticated arches and two beautiful three-mullioned windows with small columns and a balcony. Also noteworthy are other 16th-17th-century stately residences, such as Palazzo Polcenigo, Casa Pezzutti, Palazzo Zaro, Palazzo Scolari-Salice with its splendid 19th-century garden on a hillside, and two well-preserved ancient water mills.
